I’m Julie Machado, MFT, a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (MFT 27937) with over 25 years of experience.
I work with adults and teens to help them improve their lives. I enjoy working with people from a variety of ethnic, cultural, spiritual or religious backgrounds and lifestyles.
I have 25+ years of experience working in both agency and private practice settings. I help people feel less depressed or anxious, cope with mood swings; or address life difficulties such as women’s issues (career/family balance, PMS, menopause, etc.); grief and loss (including pet loss, job loss, divorce); coping with change; relationship issues; learning how to set limits; getting along better with family, friends or co-workers; dealing with family members who have drug or alcohol issues; codependency; improving communication; making tough decisions.
I also have over 25 years of experience in academic counseling, helping young adults and re-entry students plan for and navigate college.
I am excited to offer a technique called Brainspotting (BSP), a therapeutic tool which can help you access, process, and overcome trauma, negative emotions, difficult memories, and even some physical symptoms. See the separate page about Brainspotting on this website for more information, including links to videos and articles.
I have studied the Enneagram under David Daniels, M.D., clinical professor of Psychiatry at Stanford University Medical School; Barbara Whiteside, Certified Enneagram Coach; and Elaine Culverwell, LMFT, Certfied Enneagram Instructor.
I have completed advanced training on therapeutic use of nutrition and nutritional supplements, and have a long-time interest in alternative mental health, including how physical health can impact mental health.
In my personal life, I love reading, writing, learning new things, seeing family and friends, and playing with my cats. I have a history of volunteer work for a variety of community organizations.
